Veterinary import

The EU regulates the safety of imported food. In general perishable goods imported into the EU must meet sanitary or phytosanitary requirements that protect human and animal health.  The EU legislation on food safety governs production, labelling and tracking through the supply chain.

The veterinary team of Jac. Meisner manages the process of border-crossing inspection after the custom requirements have been met. Most non-EU origin food products must undergo a physical inspection by the NVWA, the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority.

The Jac. Meisner team coordinates the process, including all necessary documentation, and transportation from port to the approved veterinary border inspection posts (BIPs).  In addition to process management, the company provides its customers with proactive information, feedback on product status and will assistance in liasing with the NVWA in case of disputes.
